hrpm Time and Attendance Hardware Solutions

We recognise that every organisation has unique infrastructure requirements. Our software is designed with the flexibility to integrate seamlessly with your existing systems or support the deployment of cutting-edge hardware, ensuring a bespoke and optimal installation for your business.

Facial Recognition

Facial recognition hardware has transitioned from a futuristic novelty into the gold standard for high-security, high-traffic workforce management. By utilising computer vision and neural networks, these terminals offer a level of precision and speed that traditional methods—such as punch cards or even fingerprints—simply cannot match.

Modern facial recognition terminals do not merely “look” at a face; they perform a complex mathematical analysis in milliseconds. The process generally follows four distinct stages:

Verification: The system compares the live template against its database. In “1:N” (One-to-Many) mode, it searches the entire database to identify the user; in “1:1” mode, it verifies the face against a specific ID or card.

Detection & Alignment: The camera identifies a human face within the frame. High-end hardware employs WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) cameras to ensure the face is visible even in challenging backlighting or low-light conditions.

Feature Extraction: The algorithm maps “nodal points”—such as the distance between the eyes, the width of the nose, and the contour of the jawline. These landmarks are converted into a unique mathematical string known as a facial template.

Liveness Detection (Anti-Spoofing): To prevent fraud, advanced sensors use infrared (IR) light or 3D depth sensing to ensure the face is a living, three-dimensional human and not a high-resolution photo, video, or mask.

Integrating facial recognition hardware provides more than just a modern aesthetic for an office; it addresses several critical operational pain points:

Mask & Accessory Compatibility: Intelligent algorithms have evolved to recognise users even when they are wearing glasses, hats, or surgical masks, maintaining security without requiring the user to adjust their appearance.

Elimination of “Buddy Punching”: Time theft occurs when employees clock in for one another. Because facial features are unique and virtually impossible to replicate without liveness detection, this type of fraud is effectively eliminated.

Hygienic & Touchless: In a post-pandemic world, minimising physical contact with shared surfaces is a priority. Facial recognition allows for a completely hands-free experience.

Speed and Throughput: Top-tier devices can verify a user in under 0.3 seconds. This prevents bottlenecks at entrances during shift changes, where dozens of workers may need to clock in simultaneously.

Finger Print

Fingerprint scanning hardware has evolved from simple image capture into a sophisticated biometric pillar of workforce management. By utilising high-resolution sensors and pattern-matching algorithms, these terminals provide a reliable, cost-effective, and highly individualised method for tracking time and attendance.

Modern fingerprint scanners do not simply take a “photograph” of the finger; they map the unique biological topography of the skin. The process generally follows four distinct stages:

Verification: The system compares the live scan against the stored mathematical template. If the points align within a strict margin of error, the user is verified and the timestamp is recorded instantly.

Image Acquisition: When a finger is placed on the sensor, the device captures a high-resolution map of the ridges and valleys. High-end terminals often use Infrared (IR) sensors to ensure a clear reading even if the finger is wet, dry, or rough.

Minutiae Extraction: The algorithm identifies specific “minutiae points”—where ridge lines end or split (bifurcations). It maps these unique coordinates relative to one another to create a digital fingerprint template.

Liveness Detection: To defend against “spoofing,” advanced scanners can detect live tissue characteristics, such as blood flow or skin elasticity, ensuring that the finger is real and not a silicone or latex replica.

Implementing fingerprint hardware offers a balanced blend of security and practicality, addressing several common administrative challenges:

Compact Integration: Due to the small physical footprint of fingerprint sensors, these terminals can be installed in tight spaces or integrated into sleek, ultra-thin hardware like the F22 or SF300.

Individual Accountability: Unlike passwords or fobs that can be shared or lost, a fingerprint is intrinsically linked to the individual. This ensures that the person clocking in is exactly who they claim to be, eliminating “buddy punching.”

Cost-Effectiveness: Fingerprint technology is a mature and widely adopted biometric, making it an affordable entry point for businesses looking to upgrade from manual or proximity card systems.

Operational Simplicity: Users do not need to remember credentials or carry physical tags. A simple touch provides access, reducing the administrative burden of replacing lost cards or resetting forgotten PINs.

Palm Scanners

Palm scanning hardware represents the latest leap in biometric technology, offering a highly secure and completely “non-contact” method for time and attendance. By utilising near-infrared light to map the internal vein patterns of the hand, these terminals provide a level of security that is significantly more difficult to forge than traditional surface-level biometrics.

Palm recognition terminals employ a sophisticated process known as vascular pattern recognition. This technology looks “beneath the skin” through four distinct stages:

Touchless Verification: The user simply holds their palm a few centimetres above the sensor. The system compares the live vein pattern against the database in milliseconds, granting access without any physical contact required.

Vascular Imaging: The scanner emits near-infrared light towards the palm. Since deoxidised haemoglobin in the blood absorbs these rays, the veins show up as a black pattern against the rest of the hand.

Pattern Extraction: The algorithm identifies the unique intersection points and branches of the vein network. Because these patterns are internal to the body and highly complex, they are virtually impossible to replicate or “lift.”

Template Generation: Much like facial or fingerprint tech, the device converts this vascular map into an encrypted mathematical template. No actual image of the hand is stored; only the coordinates of the vein structure.

Integrating palm scanning hardware offers a premium security solution that addresses the highest standards of hygiene and fraud prevention:

High-Speed Throughput: Modern palm sensors, such as those found in high-end ZKTeco terminals, allow for rapid-fire verification. This ensures that even large workforces can clock in quickly during peak shift changes without forming queues.

Maximum Fraud Resistance: Because vein patterns are hidden inside the body, they are immune to common spoofing methods used against fingerprints or photos. It is widely considered one of the most secure biometric methods available today.

Ultimate Hygiene: Palm scanners are inherently touchless. Users verify their identity by hovering their hand over the sensor, making it the ideal solution for hospitals, laboratories, or high-traffic offices where cross-contamination is a concern.

Universal Usability: Unlike fingerprints, which can be difficult to read if the skin is damaged, dry, or worn down by manual labour, internal vein patterns remain consistent and easily readable regardless of the condition of the skin’s surface.

Mobile App Clocking

hrpm now has a mobile clocking app that seamlessly integrates with the hrpm time and attendance software. The perfect solution for business teams on the move.
